Rmb Real Exchange Rate Appreciation, And Yunnan Province, The Export Commodity Structure Adjustment

Since the reform and open policy 20 years ago, the relations between the Renminbi exchange rate and the Chinese foreign trade development have strengthened day by day. With the continued depreciation of exchange rate, China had basically finished the aspect of trade revenue and expenditure for a long time, which paces back and forth in the trade deficit level, and finish the export commodity structural transformation completely, which makes the dominant position from the resources-intensive product to the labor-intensive product in the earlier periods of 1990s.The export commodity structure of Yunnan Province also promote with steady steps and the optimization under the big environment of reform and open policy. But there are still many unreasonable performances in the development on the way. Commodity knowledge and technical content lower, the market competition strength is weak. The export commodity mainly concentrates in the labor-intensive product and the resources-intensive product. Primary product, rough machining product and low-grade products exists with special and new product few. Except the cigarette, nearly does not exist several famous brands, the capital-intensive products is quite a few. But the domestic and foreign literature demonstrate that Renminbi real exchange rate revaluation has a small influence to the imports and exports total price, influence of the labor-intensive product exportation is bigger than the capital-intensive product. Therefore at the present stage, under the Renminbi real exchange rate revaluation situation, it is important for Yunnan's economical development to change the export commodity structure of Yunnan Province as soon as possible.This paper take the date of 1990 -2001 year of Yunnan Province export commodity as the research object, the research achievement estimates the elasticity of Renminbi real exchange rate to the export commodity of Yunnan Province, take the direct-viewing way to study the influence of Renminbi exchange rate change to the Yunnan Province labor-intensive form and the capital-intensive product. Comparing the capital-intensive export amount to the labor-intensive export amount, take the proportion as the commodity exportation structure of Yunnan Province, study the influence of Renminbi real exchange rate revaluation to the commodity exportation structure of Yunnan Province in the long time. Finally according to the results, concerning the economy development situation of Yunnan Province at present, it comes to the conclusions of the suggestion how to optimize the export commodity structure of Yunnan Province.
