With the rapid development of economic integration, free trade area, as the main form of regional trade arrangements, together with others of its kind, are surging in numbers in the global area, and becoming the world's most important and effective way of foreign trade cooperation. Thus, rules of origin, which are very closely connected with the effectiveness of the free trade area, are getting more and more attention. However, the standards of rules of origin can be vastly different among free trade area each composed of only developed countries and only developing countries, or composed of both. Due to the differences between those standards, the rules can have different impact on regional trade and Foreign Direct Investment. The analysis of differences in rules of origin, as well as the main reason for these differences can give us and other developing countries major hints on how to participate in a free trade area and how to develop reasonable and effective rules of origin.
