After the mid-19th century, due to the rise of the tea trade, Fuzhou once attracted worldwide attention. But economic development didn't promote the prosperity of society. Rather, it was the rise of trade had triggered a profound social crisis.First of all, the rise of the tea trade attracted many foreigners and the outsiders came here ,so the collision of culture rose between the foreigner and the Chinese, locals and outsiders simmered ethnic conflict, local forces has been strengthened; Second, the rise of the tea trade has also caused financial long-term instability, to the survival of ordinary people a great deal of pressure; and since it was poor management, rapid urbanization and disorder highlighted the contradiction between the urban flood control system. Although economic growth was very obvious, but the urban community has a long-term stagnation.Therefore, modern Fuzhou, only an illusion of economic prosperity, is a beautiful legend, but behind their prosperous society perilous.
