Steel Products Warehouse Performance Improvement

Logistics as the third source of the profit is becoming more and more important in the enterprise. Steel companies are now facing big pressures and challenges, they must use advanced technology and equipment and facilities to build a reasonable logistics system to fit the development of the future.Cause the management of storage changes the time's state of the goods, it is one of the main pillars in the logistics system. So improving the performance of the management of storage is the main direction to build a modern logistics system. With the changes of the market and much more customer's individual requests, the management of storage in steel companies can maybe emerge many problems such as high store and low turnover and high cost.To solve these problems, steel companies must set up a series of reasonable management targets to judge the situation and use management measures to improve the management of storage. This thesis explains that we can use two aspects—high service level and low cost, to measure the performance of the management of storage. Service level includes production efficiency and delivery level. Low cost mains the occupancy of storage capital and operation cost are low. As high service level and low cost are growth and decline, we think that the total cost is low is the most important goal.This thesis researches the management methods or technologies which are suit to the make-to-order's manufacturing mode, such as control inventory, do standard operation, build information management system. This thesis also gives examples of the application in the production storehouse of Transportation Department of Baosteel Company.In the last, we think that intelligent management in storehouse is the way of the management of storage in the future.
