Florida Ramie Industry Cluster Development

Ramie, which is originated in China, mainly plants in Sichuan and Hunan provinces. Sichuan Province is superior to Hunan Province in ramie production but most of the ramie in Sichuan comes from Dazhou. The planting area and output of ramie in Dazhou account for 30% of China and 95% of Sichuan Province respectively. Now Dazhou has become an important production base for fine quality ramie. County economy is very important in regional economy since it is the joint portion between macro and micro economy, industry and agriculture, urban and rural area as well as the key point for planning of urban and rural area as a whole and for consolidating the grass-roots political authority. Industry cluster as an organization form, its development is in close relation to industry restruction, technological innovation, national and local economic development. This paper aims to analyze current planting and processing situation of ramie in Dazhou and its existing problems through interview and other field survey methods. The result of this thesis has a valuable guidance to ramie industry development. This paper also puts forward an innovative idea for development of ramie industry through the balance between ramie cluster development and environment protection of and between base construction and leading enterprise so as to make sure the development of ramie industry can be good and fast. This paper suggests that ramie industry in Dazhou can form an industry cluster in order to cultivate"Dazhou ramie"to be famous brand in China even in the world. Meanwhile, ramie industry can serve as an special advantage and leading industry in Dazhou and play a role in pushing forward the strategic restructuring of the rural economy, upgrading the advantageous industries and increasing the income of the farmer as well as boosting the big forward development of county economy.
