| As the multinational petrochemical corporations take over or joint together, factors of production begin to accelerate the flow to developing countries, which contributing to the rapid development of petrochemical industry in developing countries. The area along the Yangtze River Delta, which has a unique advantage on location, infrastructure, and human resource, is an important chemical production base in China. Therefore, by studying its cluster degree, judging its effect on location economy and enhancing industry competitiveness from macro level, petrochemical corporations can clear self-development direction and enhance innovation ability.My essay first put forward situations and problems along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Chemical Industry. Then under the theory of literatures, cluster degrees were calculated by location quotation, and industrial structure similarity coefficient level was analysed by relative index in chapter 4.In chapter 5, we used model to analyse the correlation between industry cluster and economic growth, and calculated industrial agglomeration elasticity. Finally, according to index analysis, we offered some development strategies helping to optimize the chemical industrial structures.According to the relative index results and analysis methods, we got the following conclusions: By 2008, Jiangsu Province Chemical Industry has formed a certain scale of industrial cluster, and the cluster degree is continuously increasing. The concentration level along the southern coast is slightly higher than the one along the north shore, but industry along the north shore has more development potential. It has positive correlation between chemical industry cluster development and the regional economy along the Yangtze River. In Jiangsu Province, chemical products and chemical fiber manufacturing industry have higher flexible cluster degree; besides, pharmaceutical manufacturers and oil processing industry have deeper impact in certain areas. |
