Family-run business is an enterprise taken over and monopolized by the members from the same family. Based on the majority of the family firms during 1840s to 1920scentury, Chandler,1977,the famous American business historians made a study about family business.He gave a definition about it:The man who starts the business and his most intimate partner (and family members) always hold the major shares. They keep a firm relationship with the managers in privacy meanwhile the priority to make the decisions as senior managers, especially the decision on the finance policy, the distribution of the resource and the selection about the managers.Chandler named such modern industrial and commercial firms as enterpriser-led or family-run business. On his opinion, family business, typically characterized by the society is quite different from the public sector and they are mutual conceptions.Said by Lansberg,1983,as the result of family effects, the chargers between family-run and non-family-run firms differs on the administration of the company. There're interactions between the development of enterprise and that of family. For example, family members take family firms as careers of their family or their own. Besides, family's values are influenced by the structure and operation of the family firms and so on.The main study of family business in the country is still the analysis of cases or the narration of the influence factors of inheriting.On basis of the economics,sociology and philosophy, through the historical analysis, the issue analyzes inheriting of family business theoretically and practically.The body parts are the elaboration of the theory of family business, analyzing the inheritance of the family business both in Asia and Europe, as well as the situations and the paradox of the heirs in China at present. Last but not least, according to the example of the heir to "Fotile", the author makes a study about main factors of the heirs to the family firms.The conclusion of the issue is to build a steady and transitional structure of the cooperation by choosing the heir among more family members.Based upon the succeeding to father's chairmanship,those professional managers are made to the administrators at the specific departments and given some manage power in the process.Relatively, such method does fit the demands of the present family firms in our country.The tentative study of the issue is fully cognizant of the diversity and the different stages of family business and to succeed at diverse patterns. The absolute rejection either to succeeding among the family or hiring professional managers to the company brings no good. It is my pleasure if the issue would help the succeeding of the family business.
