Intellectual Capital Of The Company's Ability To Grow

In the times of knowledge economy, intellectual capital (IC) is gradually replacing traditional factors of production, as the key resources of the company's competitive edge. Especially for information technology companies with intensive-knowledge, the importance of intellectual capital is more prominent in their process of growth and development. Though there are many papers about intellectual capital in recent years, the study which combines intellectual capital with the company's growth ability is relatively few, especially for a more a lack of empirical studies. Therefore, the empirical study on the effect to the company's growth ability by intellectual capital has very important academic value and realistic meaning.This paper develops a conceptual model between IC and growth ability, put information technology companies as the research objects, and designs their quantitative evaluation indicators, which basing on reviewing the researches of domestic and overseas scholars about the IC and its relationship with the company's growth. The paper uses exploratory factor analysis to evaluate the intellectual capital and makes the structural equation analysis of the effect to the company's growth ability by intellectual capital. After the model building, model identification; model fit assessment and model modification, the paper comes to the conclusion of the study as follows:①The paper calculate the scores of the three constitutes of intellectual capital - the structured IC, non-structured internal IC and external IC, which shows that our information technology companies have low levels of IC.②Structured IC has a negative effect on the company's grow ability; non-structured internal IC has significant positive effects; the effect of non-structured external IC is not significant.③The interactions of the components of intellectual capital also have indirect effects on the company's growth ability.④By the vertical comparison between two years, most of the companies showed a decline on the level of IC .It play a drop role on the company's growth ability also.According to the results of empirical studies, the paper proposes some specific measures to improve intellectual capital management the company's growth ability combining with the actual situation of information technology companies, which provides some effective help for the future development of information technology companies.
