Economic and education are the two basic of social development. Along with the rapid development of knowledge economy and the advent of the information age,the main source of economic growth that rely on the natrual resource,labor and capital input gradually transform for the human capital accumulation,scientific and technological progress and innovation as the primary source of economic growth.Higher education which has the character of knowledgy creation ,dissemination and application ,contact with the econimic development and talent training,play the role of integrating every labor department. The development of higher education will determine its science and technology innovation ability,thus affect the coutry's economic growth and development speed.Currently ,China'shigher education has achieved the tiansformation from elite education to mass education.So how to measure and coordinate the relation of higher education and economic growth is a important theoretical and practical problem.This letter based on the classical theory of economic growth,from the inner relation of higher education and economic growth,according to the research hypotheses,estabilishing economic analysis model,building index system to measure them,and describing sample scale,the source and structure of data in detail.In the empirical analysis,authou make statictical analysis between China's economic growth and higher education,and use the factor ang clustering analysis method ,devide China into four areas.Then,use advanced mesure method,inspect the cointegration relationship,the causal relationship and the convergence between China's higher education development and econimic growth from different areas and stages.It shows that there is a long-term equilibrium and a short-term fluctuation of cointegration relationship between them,each factor of higher education exist different causality to economic growth.In areas,the long-term stability of the equilibrium relationship exist between higher education development and economic growth,intercept dimension analysis model is the best model.Sicne China's reform and open-up,the scale and stock of higher education is convergent.Along with the increase enrollment in 1999,the gap of different provinces in higher education scale and stock is narrowed.Based on the researh result,it revealed that the scale of higher education must adapt to the economic growth ,the investmetn system of"One Domination With Plu ralization"must be established,the quality of higher education must be ensured,human capital must be allocation optimized,higher education in different areas must be coordinated to the economic growth.
