The paper is part of the research on tradiontial Chinese medicine's modernization in our laboratory. The main work is the study on the constituents of Phellodendron amurense Rupr.indigenous to Liaoning Province China. Eighteen compounds were isolated from the bark of P.amurense Rupr. On the basis of physical and chemical properties and spectroscopic method(1H-N MR, 13C-NMR, ESI-MS, EL-MS, DEPT, 1L-1HCOSY. HM QC, HMBC, HPCE),fourteen compounds were elucidated as obakunone(PA1),obaculactone(PA2), kihadanin B(PA3). berberine(PA4), P -sitosterol(PA5),daucosterol(PA6), palmatine(PA8),syringin(PA9),methyl 3-O-feruloyl quinate(PA1 O),amurenlactone A(PA 11 ),jatrorrhizine(PA 12), sangleng acid(PA1 3),amurenlactone B(PA14),amurenamide A (PA19),respectively.PA11.. PA14 and PA19 are new compounds; PA6 and PA13 are firstly isolated from Phellodendron. amurense -2- ABSTRACT Rupr. This is the first time to report the study on the constituents of Phellodendron amurense Rupr. in China.
