Traditional Chinese medicine Cortex Phellodendron Chinenseis is the dry bark of Phellidendron chinense Schneid., which is belonged to Rutaceal family. It has been widely used in heat-clearing and detoxification, lowing the blood pressure, treating enteron ulcer, counteracting pathogen germ, et al. Coptis chinensis Franch.(Ranunculaceae) is a perennial herbaceous plant, and it is used as the traditional Chinese medicine, bitter in taste and cold-nature. It is an important medicine in curing discharging fire, detoxification, clearing away pathogenic heat and dampness. Previous researches showed that Phellidendron chinense Schneid. and Coptis chinensis Franch. have good effect on lowering blood sugar level. In recent years, there are many reports about the pharmacological activities and the mechanism of action of Phellidendron chinense Schneid. and Coptis chinensis Franch. in antidibetic effect. So It is necessary to study the chemical compositions of these two kind plants deeply. This article mainly studies the trace chemical compositions in the parts which have good hypoglycemic activity.Based on various chromatographic and spectroscopic analysis and chemical determation method,16compounds were isolated from the alkaloids part of Cortex Phellodendron Chinenseis,15compounds were identified,7alkaloids and8quinate derivatives. These compounds are listed as follows:berberine (1), columbamine (2), phellidendrine (3), candicine (4), berberastine (5), magnoflorine (6), govadine (7), methyl3-O-feruloyl-quinate (8),4-O-feruloylquinic acid (9), Methyl4-O-feruloyl-quinate (10),3-O-fernloylquini acid (11), Methyl5-O-fernloyr-quinate (12), ferulic acid (13), cinna-mylate (14), cyclohexanecarboxylic acid (15). Compounds7,10and15were isolated and identified from this genus for the first time.14compounds were isolated from the alkaloids part of Coptis chinensis Franch.10alkaloids and4non-alkaloids. These compounds are listed as follows:corydaldine (17), noroxyhydrastinine (18), epiberberine (19), jateorrhizine (20),1-hydroxy berberine (21), oxyberberine (22), coptisine (23), berberrubine (24), dimethyl2-hydroxyscuccinate (25), methyl ferulate (26),3,4-dimethyl-l-phenylcyclohex-3-en-l-formic acid (27),(2S)-dimethy-2-hydroxypentanedioate (28), berberine (29), palmatine (30). Compounds21,25,26,27and28were isolated and identified from this genus for the first time. The screened compounds which were isolated from Cortex Phellodendron Chinenseis. Showed no effect to inhibit the enzyme PTP1B.
