The essential oil could brin down the temperatUr alongwith an increase of 5-hydroxy tryPttalne (5-HT) and dopamin (DA) and a decreaseof 5-hydroXy indo1e acetic acid(5-De) in hrpothaiamus in febrile rabbitS inducedby endotoxin. MeanWhile, the content of norePinePhrin NE) was not ialluenced.These suggeSt that the anndretic effeit of the essential oil of Ligushcumchuanxiong Hort. is relative to (changing the ratio of 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT)and norepinephrine on) by increating the content of 5-hydroxy tryptaxnine (5-HT),xvhich finaIly influences the part of nervous system controlling temperatUre.
