Objective: The Purpose of this study is to research the role of VEGF and microvessel density (MVD) on Cervical lymph node metastasis and Prognosis. methods: Surgical specimens from 45 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity who had undergone radical operation between 1991 and 1998 were examined for VEGF expression and microvessel density by immunocytochemical staining Anti-VEGF polyclonal antibody was used to determine VEGF expression expression and anti-CD34 monoclonal antibody was used to determine MVD. Results: 028(62.2%)of the 45 oral SCC were positive for VEGF expression .And most of VEGF protein was found to be located in Cytoplasm of cancer cells .Few in endothelial cells. ç”…VD of the 45 cases varied from 45 microvessels /x400 field and the average was 19.6 ,Stained microvessels were mainly distributed in the regions of the connective tissue near the cancer cell groups. There was a close correlation between MVD and VEGF positivity.(p
