| Objective: To evaluate the role of microsurgery and diagnosis of brainstem tumors. Methods: The authors reviewed the clinical data in 25 patients with brainstem tumors. Results: Total excision was operated in 5 cases , near total excision in 7, subtotal excision in 8, partial excision in 5. Fifteen cases were treated with targeted radiotherapy after surgery. The symptoms improved in 13 cases (50.0%), similar as preoperative in 5, deteriorated in 6, and 1 died. Conclusion: The treatment of microsurgery with targeted radiotherapy for brainstem tumors is effective. |
