For viral encephalitis(VE),purulent meningitis(PM)and tuberculous meningitis(tm)patients,we detected TNF and IL-1 variation in their CSF and plasma using ELISAtechnicResults; In acute state of VE,PM and TM,TNF and IL-1 level in CSF were much higher than that in normal control group(0.001),but in remission state ,there ,TNF and IL-1 level in CSF in PM and TM were higher than that in VE,but the level in plasma have no different between then;TNF in CSF show linear positive correlation with IL-1 in CSF,but IL-1 and TNF in CSF has no correlation whth that in plasmareapectively. The results suggest: In early encephalitis ,TNF and IL-1 level rised significantly, and showed linear positive correlation each other,TNF and IL-1 coordinate participate in brain damage.TNF and IL-1 in CSF in PM and TM were much higher than that in VE,so perhaps this is one of effective differential diagnosis means of bacterial meningitis and virus meningitis,.
