Superior Are Against Experimental Genital Herpes Simplex Virus Research

"Youzheng",professor Zhangyi's proved recipe for treating GH. has function of clearing away damp-heat and toxins,tonifying Qi and nourishing Yin. It is applicable for acute infection of GH. Objective:To study the therapeutic mechanism of Youzheng containing Chinese herbs against GH. Methods:The female guinea pig GH models were treated with taking Youzheng. The vaginal liter of the virus,the symptoms of vulva,body weight,IL-2,IL-6 and TNF were observed. Cell culture was used to detect the cytopathic suppression. Mice model inoculated HSV-2 by tail-vein were treated with taking Youzheng. Mortality of mice was obsered. Results:It was shown that there was no difference between Youzheng group and acyclovir(ACV) group on the liter of virus in the vagine of guinea pig (P>0.05). The symptom score after the treatment with Youzheng was significantly lower than lhal of virus conlrol group. Youzheng has certain protect effect on body weight of guinea pig. Youzheng middle and low dose have the function of increasing IL-2. There was obvious difference belween Youzheng middle,low dose groups and virus conlrol group on IL-2(Pmiddie<0.01,Piow< 0.05). There was obvious difference between Youzheng group and ACV group on mortality proteclion. Cell culture showed that the lowest effective concenlraclion for suppressing HSV-2 by Youzheng was 3.9mg/ml. Conclusion:Youzheng containing Chinese herbs inhibits HSV-2 and reduces HSV-2 in vivo and in vitro. On the other hand,Youzheng has immune enhancement.
