Discussion On Several Problems Of Chronic Prostatitis

Chronic prostatitis (CP) is a common disease which is hard to cure in urology and andrology with an uncertain aetiology and epidemiology. These patients form an important part of the urologist's practice.However there are still no standard diagnoses and treatments for CP. On the base of gathering and arranging pertinent literature, the author brought forward some view about the disease. The epidemiological studies have confirmed that the incidence of pathologic prostatitis is higher than that of clinical prostatitis. Associations of CP include benign prostatic hyperplasia, sexually transmitted disease.The prostatitis' aetiology may be immune reaction ,cytokines,micro-organism infection , intraprostatic urinary reflux,mentality,disorder of sympathetic nerve,congestion of prostate.The NIH classification system serving as the guidance for studies still has some problems.A new classification system was put forward by the auther. The traditional Chinese medical science and Western medicine science haven't yet unified the diagnosis and treatment of CP. The traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture have good effect in treating CP.In the future the direction of TCM in treating CP is maybe located at researching the relationship between the classification by Patterns Identified and the pathologic phenomenon of CP.
