BackgroundChronic prostatitis is a common and puzzling urinary disease, incidence rate accounting for 25-33% of the urological clinic visitors. About 50% of the male adults suffered from prostatitis symptoms at some time in their life. However, neither urologists nor patients are satisfied with the effect of the treatment ,The main reason for this is lack of deep understanding and study of the disease. We have investigated 3000 patients with prostatitis to find out possible causes, clinical manifestation and treatment status of prostatitis.The condition undoubtedly has negative impacts on their quality of life. The cause of the disease is basically unknown.Objectives1. To study the possible causes, clinical symptoms and treatment status of chronic prostatitis.2. To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of sexual dysfunction in Chinese men with chronic prostatitis.3. To investigate the effect of pathogenic organism in chronic prostatitis(CP)4. To measure the concentration of electrolytes such as potassium, sodium,chloride,calcium in EPS and urine of patients with chronic prostatitis,to analyze the correlation of the electrolytes in different patient groups and its implications.5. To investigate the effect of Kv1.3 potassium ion channel in the pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis.
