Acidophil Spleen Asthma Rats Eosinophilic Cells Apoptosis Of Study

Under the guidelines of the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the rat models with spleen-deficiency in TCM and bronchial asthma in west medicine were set up. The effects of the medicine of "reinforcing earth to strengthen metal" oneosinophil (Eos) count and Eos apoptosis rate in the lung tissue, and the levels of Interleukin-4(IL-4) and Interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were observed.Results: In both groups of spleen-deficiency asthma and asthma only, the counts of Eos and the levels of IL-4 increased(P<0. 01) ; the apoptosis rates of Eos and the levels of IFN- y decreased (P <0.01). Compared with the asthmatic group, the spleen-deficiency asthma group had a more significant change in the count of Eos and the level of IL-4(P<0.05). The medicine of "reinforcing earth to strengthen metal" could notably reduce the count of Eos and the levels of IL-4 (P <0. 01 or P<0.05), and promote the apoptosis of Eos and raise the levels of IFN-γ(P <0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusions: In a spleen-deficiency asthma state, both the changes of levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ in BALF and the changes of Eos count and Eos apoptosis rate in the lung tissue are obvious. Spleen-deficiency is one of the main pathogeneses of asthma. Spleen-deficiency can raise the level of IL-4 and the Eos count in the lung tissue. For asthma, the medicine of "reinforcing earth to strengthen metal" can bring on a satisfactory treating result by adjusting the constitution of the cytokines and promote the apoptosis rate of the Eos, thus the number of the Eos in the lung tissue will be lessen.
