Behavioral tests have significant value in research of higher functions of brain, especially in neurophysiology and neuropharmacology. To develop a multifunctional and intelligent behavioral tests system is important for increasing the test data quality and deducing experimenters' labor intensity.In my research work, behavioral tests of rats have been analyzed and a new system is developed and used in behavioral tests. This paper described the hardware and software designing of the rats behavioral tests system. The self-designed experimental system can realize functions of automatic control, data acquisition and analysis for behavioral tests, which provide an efficient and scientific experimental setup for researches of physiology and pharmacology.USB is a very popular interface specification of external peripherals at present and it is the trend of external peripherals development in future. We use the USB technique to realize the data transmission between pc and stimulator, and LabVIEW is applied to develop supervision software, which has a nice Graphic User Interface.Using this system, we studied the effects of mice shuttle-box learning and memory under postnatal hypoxia. The result shows that the system can be used to evaluate the effects of the drugs and to study physiology.
