Part one: Clinical Observation on GuBenXiaoLiu capsule in The Treatment of Advanced Lung CancerObjective: To observe the therapeutic effect of GuBenXiaoLiu capsule in thetreatment of advanced lung cancer.Methods: 156 lung caner patients in the stage of IIIB or IV were allocated randomlyinto three arms, they are TCM, Chemo. and TCM plus Chemo respectively. Patients inTCM group were given GuBenXiaoLiu capsule 4 pills, twice a day, 3 weeks as 1cycle. Patients in Chemo. group were given chemotherapy with MVP or NP regime, 3weeks as 1 cycle. Patients in TCM plus Chemo. were given GuBenXiaoLiu capsuleand chemotherapy at same time, 3 weeks as 1 cycle, The program of TCM andchemotherapy in this group is the same as above. After 2 cycles of treatment, thechange of symptoms, quality of life, size of tumor and side effects were comparedamong three groups. The survival were evaluated based on the long termoberservation.The results: In the end of the treatment, the eligible cases in TCM, Chemo. and TCMplus Chemo. were 46, 43 and 44 respectively. The objective response rate in TCM,Chemo. and TCM plus Chemo. were 2.2%, 27.9% and 43.2% respectively; Theeffective rate in each group was 58.7%,65.1% and 85.4% respectively. The objectiveresponse rate in TCM was lower than that of Chemo. or TCM plus Chemo., P<0.01;The objective response rate in Chemo. was lower than that of TCM plus Chemo.,P<0.05. As to the effective rate, there was no different between TCM and Chemo.Compared with the Chemo., TCM and TCM plus Chemo. might be more effective inrelieving the symptoms such as cough, fatigue, breathlessness and so on, P<0.05 orP<0.01. The stable and elevating rate of KPS in TCM or TCM plus Chemo. werehigher than that of Chemo. , P<0.01. The occurrence rate of side effects (decrease ofWBC, vomiting, alopecia and toxic of never system) in TCM plus Chemo. were lowerthan that of Chemo. Compared with Chemo. (9.1m, 27.9%), the median survival timeand 1-year survival rate in TCM (11.3m, 41.3%) and TCM plus Chemo.(12.5m, 50%)were higher, P<0.05.Conclution: In the treatment of advanced lung cancer, GuBenXiaoLiu capsule couldrelieve symptoms, promote the quality of life, inhibit the progression of tumor andprolong the survival. While combining with the chemotherapy, GuBenXiaoLiucapsule could up-regulate the response rate and down-regulate the side effects.
