Purpose of study:Chronic prostatitis is one of the most common diseases among men. In USA, 9 to 14percent of the urology and andrology patients contract chronic prostatitis. In Chinait is reported that chronic prostatitis patients account for 25 percent of urologyand andrology patients. Like recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectorisand acute Crohn's, the disease has severe impact on the life of the patients. What's more the mental and psychological impairments caused by the disease are moreserious than those of severe diabetes and cardiac failure. The functional secretiondisability resulting from chronic prostatitis has unfavorable impact on sperm, causing low fertility. Therefore, chronic prostatitis is one of the diseases whichexert severe impacts on physical and mental health of men and is the focus of studyof urology and andrology.Currently the common diagnostic methods include EPS, Mear-Stamey, PCR, measurementofantibody,cellfactors(IL-6,TNF-α),voidingpressure-flow rate-electromyogramstudy, crystoscopy, brightness mode ultrasonic and prostate tissues aspirationbiopsy. Those methods have their own merits and demerits as well. For example, EPSand Mear-Stamey make patients feel very painful and they often refuse to take thetests; moreover the failure of collecting of prostate liquid is very common. Partialglandular tube inflammation is often seen among chronic prostatitis, and the liquidcollected by EPS is not necessarily the one discharged from the inflamed glandulartube, which often results in false negative. Voiding pressure-flowrate-electromyogram study, crystoscopy, brightness mode ultrasonic and prostatetissues aspiration biopsy cause trauma and the costs of the tests are too high tobe popularized in clinic examination. Medical infrared thermography, IRT, is a newly emerging comprehensivehigh-technology. With human body as its source of radiation, it detects infraredradiation from human body by using advanced infrared scanning technology andtransforms the invisible surface body temperature into visible and quantitativeinfrared thermography image through a series of signal processing. Similar toaverage inflammation, the pathological manifestation of chronic prostatitis ischaracterized by engorgement and edema in rear urethra, prostate tube andsurrounding connective tissues and rise in temperature in certain part of body. Therefore this research proposes to explore the value of infrared thermography imageto the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis by using the medical infrared thermographydetector.英文摘要 5Study method:The research has selected 30 clinic patients from the Urological Department ofDongzhimen Hospital, who have contracted chronic prostatitis and 30 non-patients.The 30 patients have beenevaluated according to the improved symptom index for chronic prostatitis designedby Peking University Hospital. Test conditions for DW-9100 Medical InfraredThermography detector: temperature from 20~24℃, humidity 60 percent, no wallreflection, steady air flow inside, and no direct sunlight on the lens and thetestees; take photos five minutes after the testees are undressed. Shooting method:the testees stand 1.2 meters away from the detector, facing the lens, and arerequested to expose their hypogastric part and the upper one-third of the thigh.Take photos and save the images for analysis and reference. Items for observation:(1) the shape and condition of the infrared thermography image around pudendum,(2) the temperature difference between the area with higher temperature aroundpudendum and the adjacent area.Study result: The study shows that the infrared thermography of non-patients exhibits thattemperature around the pudendum is almost the same, two sides are symmetrical andthe temperature difference is less than 2℃; the infrared thermography of chronicprostatitis patients exhibits that there are hot areas...
