Objective To observe the effect of Huatan Quyu Decoction (HTQYD)to neurofunction deficit score , tissue type plasminogen activator( t-PA ), tissue type plasminogen activator inhibitor ( PAI ) andtraditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome of the patients with acutecerebral infarct. Methods Forty-two patients with acute cerebralinfarct were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (22cases) were treated with anti-platelet drug aspirin (80mg per day)orally and neuroprotective drug citicolin (750mg per day) intravenouslyby dissolving in normal saline by western conventional treatment. Onthe basis of conventional treatment western medicine, the HTQYD wasgiven to the treated group (20 cases) additionally. The neurofunctiondeficit score, TCM syndrome grade, t-PA and PAI were determined beforeand after treatment. Results TCM syndrome score in the treated groupdecreased from 50.85±19.78 to 30.75±19.11 (P<0.01).The score in thecontrol group decreased from 49.41±17.93 to 44.18±22.84 (P<0.05).Thechanges before and after treatment were 20.10±11.38 in the treatedgroup and 5.23±11.68 in the control group respectively. The scores inthe treated group were obviously better than those in the control group.The difference was markedly significant (P<0.01).The total effectiverate in the treated group(75%) was more effective than that in thecontrol group (41%).The difference was significant (P<0.05).There werethe significant improve in the both of the neurofunction deficit scoresafter treatment. The scores decreased from 25.30±5.08 to 23.00±4.90(P<0.05) in the treated group and 25.23±5.57 to 23.41±6.05 in thecontrol group (P<0.05). The difference before and after treatment were2.30±3.87 in the treated group and 1.83±3.91 in the control group.There was no significance (P>0.05). The t-PA and PAI before and aftertreatment in the two groups were improved. The t-PA increased from 13.52±5.86 to 15.80±4.99 (P<0.05) in the treated group and from 13.25±5.27 to 15.40±4.62 (P<0.05) in the control group. The difference beforeand after treatment were -2.27±4.55 in the treated group and -2.15±4.80. There was no significance (P>0.05).The PAI decreased from 36.82±15.09 to 26.87±9.25 (P<0.05) in the treated group and from 36.78± 11.59 to 31.66 ± 5.98 (P<0.05). The difference before and aftertreatment were 9.95±16.86 in the treated group and 5.13±11.23 in thecontrol group. There was no significance (P>0.05). Conclusion HTQYDhas the significant effects of improving neurofunction deficit score ,increasing significantly t-PA and decreasing PAI. HTQYD markedlyimprove the therapeutic effects combined with the conventionaltreatment in the patients with acute cerebral infarct. The mechanismcould be related mainly to its effects to t-PA and PAI activation.
