According to the research of this dissertation, we can find that alcoholic jaundice'sname and treatment based on syndrome differentiation was firstly seen in Chapter of YellowJaundice, Jinkui Yaolue, which was written by Zhang Zhongjing. The discussion on wine andalcoholic jaundice underlay the basis of Zhongjing's theory of alcoholic jaundice's treatment.Based on related records and integrated with clinical practice, the author put forward thedisease of alcoholic jaundice and summarized its treatment from the aspect of its pathogeniccause. The discussion indicated that the frequent symptom of alcoholic jaundice are deepvexation in heart or pain with heat, and a tendency of vomiting and difficult urination, besidesthe jaundice's common symptoms which are yellowish body and eyes, yellowish or reddishurine. The treatment principle is to remove dampness-heat and the treatment method is toemploy the emetic method or purgative method in the light of its general tendency or toremove the dampness-heat from up and down by using the formula like Zhizi DahuangDecoction. And its prognosis not only has the condition of natural recovery but also has thepossibility of developing to Blackish jaundice, the unfavorable state due to long-time illnessor misused purgative method. The content of alcoholic jaundice discussed by Zhongjing hasestablished a firm foundation for later generations in the alcoholic jaundice's treatment basedon syndrome differentiation. As the time elapsed, from Wei, Jin, Sui, Wudai to the late QingDynasty, alcoholic jaundice's treatment has been enriched greatly on the basis of Zhongjing'sthought. Until the end of Qing Dynasty, the system of alcoholic jaundice's treatment based onsyndrome differentiation has been consummate and systematic, which embraced variousaspects like pulse and symptoms, cause of disease and pathological mechanism, method oftreatment, prognosis ,etc. The principal syndrome of alcoholic jaundice's pulse and symptoms are yellowish bodyand eyes, yellowish or reddish urine and symptoms of heart, spleen and stomach. Also thesymptoms of abdomen in Lower Jiao, foot and shin are often seen. It provides a point indiagnosing alcoholic jaundice. The main cause and pathogenesis of alcoholic jaundice is over-drinking, added to whichare internal injury due to overwork, damaged qi and blood in Zangfu or exterior invasion bywind-cold-dampness, which causing the damp-heat pathogen can't be promoted andtransformed, and therefore accumulated in spleen and stomach, the Middle Jiao. In them, excessive alcohol is the radical etiological factor and one of the important diagnostic points inalcoholic jaundice. The central diseased part of alcoholic jaundice is spleen and stomach, butalso implicated with the gallbladder and urinary bladder. The onset often affects the lung. The treatment of alcoholic jaundice includes oral taking of medicines, acupuncture andmoxibustion, and external treatment like drug sniff and application. Under the maintherapeutic principle which is to remove dampness-heat ,the detail of therapeutic methodincludes several aspects: the upper pathogen being treated with emetic method firstly and thelower pathogen being treated with purgative method firstly in the light of its general tendency;removing alcoholic dampness from up by sweating or vomit and from down by promotingurination or urination and defecation; inducing dampness-heat out from urination anddefecation; getting rid of damp toxin and then making the urination unhindered andeliminating syndromes; treating lung and spleen together; treating gallbladder; cleaning theMiddle Jiao and removing dampness-heat, then regimen the spleen and stomach. It's veryimportant to dredge dampness-heat earlier and quickly, which is characteristic of alcoholicjaundice's treatment, i.e. removing dampness-heat chiefly and meanwhile treating spleen andstomach. Medicines for oral taking include 18 simple medicines and over 80 formulas. Inaspect of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, 10 acupoints can be selected, either in yangmeridians and part...
