| Background:Type 2 diabetes mellitus in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is known as "Xiao Ke disease"and the pathogenesis majors for deficiency of yin drynessheat, easy concurrently blood stasis.The leaves of Gynmema sylecestre (GS) have function of subduing swelling and detoxicating ,which also have function of eliminating pathogenic heat from the blood . Recent studies show that The total of GS could restrain the absorption of glucose in the small intestine of animal and expedite scathing islet cells restore by decreasing insulin secretion .In recent years, numerous studies of GS on chemical composition, pharmacological action and clinical trial have been proceeding in Japan, India and American. There are prolific resource of GS in the south of China . Systemic research , proceeding on chemical composition, pharmacological action and toxicology of the leaves of GS in Gangxi, could not verification only the function of decreasing blood glucose ,blood fat and antiplatelet but also the less toxicity and side effect..Objective:To explore the clinical effect and mechanism of Tatal Gynmema saponins Capsule (TGS) in treament of type 2 diabetes.Methods:Sixty patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled in a controlled trial in Xiyuan Hospital. Patients were randomized to receive either the study treament (33 patients) or the control treament (33 patients) . there were no differences in sex, age, course, chronic complication, combination treament and state of an illness between groups. The study treatment group receive TGS at 2 ~ 3 capsules ti.d., and the control group receive Xiu zheng jiang tang Capsule(XZJT) at 2 ~ 3 capsules t.i.d. for a total of eight weeks treatment Assayed body mass index (BMI), FBG, 2h-PG, HbA1C TC, TG, LDLrC, HDL-C, VLDL-C, IAI, traditional Chinese medicine symptom score and security observation at the start and end of the trial respectively. |
