According to many studies in home or abroad, dyslipidemia is closely related with various vascular diseases in diabetes mellitus. And the latter is the source of many complications in diabetes mellitus such as coronary artery disease, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy and so on. Dyslipidemia in T2DM is a hot point in the area of diabetes. The investigation of this disease in TCM is just at its beginning. It bares great importance to carry out further studies on this disease, aiming at exploring the rules of its diagnosis and cure in TCM for clinical practice, so as to develop effective formula to control the dyslipidemia and prevent diabetic complications. Objective: to find out the pattern of blood lipid metabolism in TCM syndrome and explore the relationship between diabetic complications and blood lipid by studying blood lipid in T2DM.Methods: We use epidemiologic investigation methods. We collected 279 cases in No. 1 Hospital attached to Guangzhou University of TCM in recent 3 years. All cases were in hospital .We use syndrome differentiation and record the change of conditions, such as symptom, results of medical check-up, diabetic complications, etc. Results and Conclusion:1.There are 74.55 percent of the cases in our investigation complicated by dyslipidemia. As to the incidence of dyslipidemia, there is an increasing trend in the syndromes of hyperactivity YANG due to YIN deficiency, deficiency of both QI and YIN, deficiency of both YIN and YANG. As to cure, we should pay more attention to invigorate QI and warm YANG.2.With the development of the four syndromes, there is an increase in the level of blood cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL). At the same time, there is a decline in the level of low density lipoprotein (LDL). According to the transformation of the level of TC, we conjecture that TC is the sign to differentiate the syndrome of hyperactivity YANG due to YIN deficiency from the other two syndromes.3.With the development of the four syndromes, there is an increase in the incidence of diabetic ccmplications. And in the same TCM syndrome, the incidence of diabetic complications is higher with the level of blood lipid. As to treatment, we should combine traditional Chinese and Western medicine. An active treatment of reducing lipid should be used.
