| Ye Tian Shi,the founder of the School of Epidemic Febrile Disease in Qin dynasty, was recognized by his written works,"Wen Re Lun,""Case Report for Clinical Practice"and"You Ke Yao Lue."This essay aims to analyze his masterpiece"Wen Re Lun"and summarize the main academic origin and the characteristics of Preventive treatment of disease. Based on the clinical theory of"Nei Jing"with the integration of his clinical experiments, the nature of"pathogenic heat transform into dryness impairing yin"and his own found,"treatment by differentiating of syndromes according to the theory of wei qi ying xue,"Ye Tian Shi for the first time pointed out the idea of"xian an wei shou xie zhi di,"which means preventing disease prior to pathogen attack.Firstly, the main concept of"xian an wei shou xie zhi di"was embodied in the entire process of the differentiations of"we qi ying xue."For instance, if warm pathogen gather at wei fen then release heat to protect body liquid. If warm pathogen enter qi then clear heat to generate body fluid. If warm pathogen fall into ying fen in the early stage then still can clear heat to reverse qi. If warm pathogen repress the blood that causes frenetic movement of hot blood then cool and dissipate the blood to nourish yin. Ye also mentioned the application in various conditions, this essay is primarily divided into four parts. Firstly, dispelling pathogen immediately is to remove etiology. Secondly, applying medical treatment prior to syndrome. Thirdly, preserving vital qi and avoid attack and quell inappropriately. Fourthly, examining habitus to prevent pathological changes. Further more, from the perspective of seasonal febrile diseases on gynecology, Ye warned that do not make mistake for pursuing triple energizer.Ye's principle of"preventing disease"carries the following characteristics: dispelling pathogen by clearing heat in the early stage; nourishing yin and body fluid is vital for predisposition to illness; preventing disease and protect vital qi always benefited by good habitus. The treatments include; resolving the exterior with coolness and acridity, adding cold and saltiness into cold and sweetness, or use orifice-opening medicinal early while the heat fall into heart, use offensive precipitation while the heat binding in the intestines and stomach, and strengthen vital qi prior to syndrome. The idea of"preventive treatment of diseases"of Ye Tian Shi has significantly influenced the development of Chinese medicine, especially on seasonal febrile diseases and hot diseases'clinical research today. |
