[Objective]Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a variable combination of unexplained, chronic or recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms not explained by structural or biochemical abnormalities. FD patients may be an extremely difficult group to manage and cost a lot.The high prevalence of FD was observed in menopause women. Although Prokinetic agents have been presented benefits to most of patients with FD, these drugs often did not yield improvement in part of menopause women with FD. There are abundant theories and clinical pratical experience to the prevention and cure the syndrome of perimenopause in the traditional Chinese medicine. It has the characterisic that diagnosis and treament based on overall analysis of syndrome and sign and individual treament .The theory of traditional Chinese medicine is under the guidance of the whole view of Chinese medicine and the negative and positive theory.Manage and achieve the goal of improving patient's sydrome and quality of surviving through the dialectical theory. This research aim to evaluate the therapeutic effect of modified Xiao Yao powder(MXYP) combined with livial on menopausal patients with functional dyspepsia(MPFD). On the other hand, to explore the mechanism of MXYP from theoretical and clinical aspects.[Methods]Eighty MPFD patients (TCM dialectical was Liver-stagnation with Spleen-deficiency type) were divided into 2 groups randomly: treatment group ( 50 cases) given decoction MXYP 200 ml bid plus 1 tablet of livial qd; control group ( 30 cases) given 1 tablet of mosapride (gasmotin) tid. The course of treatment in each group was 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, changes of symptoms and therapeutic effect were observed and analyzed. Then sets up the database and carries on the statistical analysis of the datas.[Results]1. In the treatment group, 26 cases have apparent effect,18 cases availability, 6 cases nullity; however, in the control group,6 cases have apparent effect,16 cases availability, 8 cases nullity. The overall effective rate is 88% of MXYP and superior to the control group significantly (P<0.05).2.
