Objective: To assess the efficacy, safety and recurrence rate of using modified Yi Qi Xiao Pi Tang in the treatment of Functional Dyspepsia(PDS)(deficiency of spleen-yang syndrome),as well as to explore the mechanism of action of Yi Qi Xiao Pi Tang. Methods: 60 patients with PDS were recruited from The Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Gastroenterology and Geriatrics clinic, and were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 30 in each group. The treatment group was given modified Yi Qi Xiao Pi Tang for treatment;while the control group was given Mosapride for treatment. The treatment lasted for 4 weeks. The drug efficacy, symptom score, changes in clinical symptoms, adverse drug reactions, blood, stool and urine test, liver and kidney function test, and ECG changes before and after treatment were compared.Effective cases were performed on 3 months follow-up,while the recurrence rate was observed for patients in each group. The data collected were processed and analysed using SPSS17.0 statistical software.Results:(1)The total effective rate of the treatment group was 96.67%,which was higher than the control group(80%).The difference in drug efficacy between the treatment group and the control group was statistically significant(p<0.05);(2)The difference in the improvement of clinical symptom between the treatment group and the control group was statistically significant(p<0.05);(3)There were not any adverse reactions observed in the treatment group and the control group;(4)The recurrence rate for effective cases in the treatment group during the3 months follow-up period was 17.24%,which is lower than the control group(41.67%).The difference in the recurrence rate was statistically significant(p<0.05).Conclusion: The efficacy of Yi Qi Xiao Pi Tang in the treatment of PDS(deficiency of spleen-yang syndrome)is significant.Symptoms improved more significantly in the treatment group than in the control group. The prescription is safe and has a low recurrence rate, which is suitable for widespread clinical application.
