Acupuncture Clinical Study Of Specific Points On Patients With Low Vision Visual Function

Objective:To explore the influence on the low vision subjects' visual function by acupuncturing special acupoints through clinical research.Methods:36 cases (60 eyes) were randomly divided into acupuncture group(24 cases,40 eyes,21 right eyes, 19 left eyes)and control group(12cases,20eyes ,10 right eyes, 10 right eyes).Visual acuity ,perimetry,P-VEP and CSF were performed in the two groups at the first view.The same examinations were executed again in the con- trol group after one month. The acupuncture group were acupunctured at three special points,such as Taiyang(Extra 1),Yiming(Extra 12),Binao(LI 14),and then immediately recorded the visual acuity;one month after,duplicated the same exams.The acupuncture was extended to three months in 10 cases(15 eyes), visual acuity and perimetry were examined after treatment ended.Results:Acupuncture can improve the visual acuity at certain degree,augment perimetry mean sensitivity,decrease mean deficit,raise low spatial frequency CSF.Conclusion: Acupuncture at three special points can improve at some level the low vision subjects' visual function.
