Detecting and evaluating curative effect of medicine is one of the bottle-necks of Chinese traditional medicine research. This technique is more important for anti-vertigo medicine needed in aviation, spaceflight and navigation. A system to evaluate curative effect based on characteristic of vertigo needs to be developed. Most of the existing apparatus for vertigo detecting are large, expensive and complex in operation. Also, touching the quizzee will make him feel uncomfortable to a certain extent and affect the result. Therefore, we have put forward an untouching method of detecting a white mouse's blood flux and eye-movement before and after it took the anti-vertigo medicine. Through this method we can make sure whether it is in vertigo and evaluate curative effect of the medicine.Aimed at the disadvantages of existing methods used in detecting blood flux and eye-movement, this paper introduced a method based on digital and harmless detecting. The software was designed by VC++6.0. The user interface was divided into three parts: detecting control box, video image box and wave box, using the technique of window syncopation. Control of electromotor and receiving blood flux were realized by RS-232 serial port programming with Windows API function. The communication between singlechip and computer was achieved and could transmit data in real time. A CCD camera was used to capture eye images and transmit data wirelessly to the video card. The data was sent to computer through PCI port and image analyzing was to be carried on. We used image processing methods such as picking up of characteristic weight, image strengthening, image segmentation and image erosion to change the origin eye picture into a small black rectangle which only contained the pupil. Then pupil orientation was carried on and the fluctuation was to be displayed in wave box. Finally, Cftool of Matlab was used to do the curve fitting and set up mathematic model for eye-movement when the quizzee was in a certain state so as to find the discipline of eye-movement.As is shown in the result of experiment, this detecting system works stably with friendly user interface. It can control the speed of electromotor and receive parameters of blood flux in real time. The eye image capturing and processing can reach the requirement of accuracy, in real-time and non-invasive.
