| The Qing dynasty is very important in ancient Chinese history,espically after 1840 Opium War, the western countries began to invade China by all means.The social antinomy of China is increasingly outstanding.The whole society was in a state of internal revolt and foreign invasion.Traditional Chinese medicine was also subjected to the very big impact.Before 1840 Opium War, traditional Chinese medicine is symbol of traditional medicial system.After Opium War, western medicine came to China and gradually began to challenge traditional Chinese medicine.The medical system of China also changed.Beijing,as the political center of Qing Dynasty,had the population of more than eight million people.Facing the such huge population, how to resolve the medical treatment need is a very serious problem.This paper mainly focuses on the medicial facilities in Beijing at the eighteenth century.analyizing the composing of the medical organization and its position of the medical system in late Qing dynasty.Here we try to find out how traditional Chinese medical system changed to modern medical system.In the late Qing dynasty there are mainly four kinds of medicial organizations: government-owned medical rganizations, civil medical organizations,charity medical organizations ,the church medical organizations. In Beijing being affected by western countries,the government also established many kinds of government-owned medicial organizations.these organizations mainly served the the poor.this is the first time in Chinese history the government established special medicial organizations for the poor.in the past the emperors only paid attention to royal medical organizations.At that time there were many clinics and drugstores in Beijing.but most of them were only selling Chinese herbs.For a long time government-owned medicalorganizations and civil civil medical organizations undertook the heavy responsibility in public medical system.After the Opium War, the government was compelled to sign a series of unequal treaties with western imperial powers.the western churches began to spread the doctrine and buy the land to construct the church and hospitals to offer various free medical services. From 1861 to 1908,in Beijing,through the church hospitals,more and more Chinese began to accept western medicine.Traditional medical treatment idea also changed.The medical treatment idea of the government also changed.the symbol was that the government established the western medicine department in government-owned hospitals.In the early Qing dynasty a great deal of charity organizations appeared in Beijing, these organizations raised the funds from the folks, establishing the specialized organization to help the sick and the poor.these charity organizations like pujitang and yuyingtang established medicial department to help the sick.Particularlyin pujitang at that time had taken the different illnesses into consideration when curing and nursing the patients.This paper mainly discusses correlations between different medical organizations and the formation of each kind of medicial organizations.In the late Qing dynasty the medical treatment organization of Peking were well developed.All kinds of medicial organizations had been keeping developing till the republic of china was founded.but we also should notice that the development of traditional Chinese medicine was slowly left behind the western medicine.In a word,in the late Qing dynasty the government-owned medical organizations,civil medical organizations,charity medical organizations,the church medical organizations constituted the public medical system.In the late Qing dynasty the development of medical treatment organization laid the foundation of the modern public medical treatment system.This paper may help us to understand the development of public medical system in late Qing dynasty. |
