Objective: We attempt to detect the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) , vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and MVD and their relations with angiogenesis and clinical biologic behavior in human Malignant salivary gland tumor. Methods: With 10 cases of normal salivary gland and 10 cases of pleomorphic adenoma as contract, the expression of iNOS and VEGF in 30 cases of human malignant salivary gland tumor was evaluated by immunohistochemistry SABC staining. Results: The expression rate of iNOS, VEGF and CD34 was significantly higher in 30 cases of human malignant salivary gland tumor than 10 cases of normal salivary gland and 10 cases of normal salivary gland higer than 10 cases of pleomorphic adenoma. There was not significant different between 15 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma and 15 cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Conclusion: It was suggested that iNOS and VEGF might play an important role in malignant salivary gland tumor. There is a close relationship between the expression rate of the iNOS, VEGF and MVD and malignant degree of the salivary gland tumor.
