Objective:Iris tectorum has functions of clearing away the heat and expelling superficial evils,and eliminating sputum and relieving sore throat.It mainly treats throat gall,sputum and asthma.In recent years, Iris tectorum is taken as Belamcanda chinensis to be applied in Sichuan,Guizhou,Shanxi Province.Herbal literature has recorded that the Iris tectorumis toxic.Consulting literature at all times,there is no research on pharmacological action of rhizome of Iris tectorum stir-frying with honey.Therefore,the research places an emphasis on acute toxicity and its main effects before and after Iris tectorum stir-frying with honey,probing whether rough Iris tectorumis toxic or not and whether stir-frying with honey achieves purpose of reducing toxicity or not in order to provide ground for clinic safety,effect and reasonable administrating.Method:(1) By hint of stir-frying with honey Belamcanda chinensis method modern Chinese medicine preparation handbook compiled by Ran,Mao-xiong etc.(citing new edition),Iris tectorum is prepared by honey.②Adopting improved karber method,reviewing acute toxicity of amount of crude Iris tectorum and honey Iris tectorum.③Adopting trachea phenol red method, reviewing influence of amount of crude Iris tectorum and honey Iris tectorum to dispel sputum of small mouse.④Adopting ammonia sputum absorbing method,reviewing influence of amount of crude rhizome of Iris tectortm and so on for cough time and delitescence induced by ammonia to small mouse.⑤Adopting xylene-induced inflammation,reviewing influence of amount of crude Iris tectorum and so on to inhibit ear tumefaction of small mouse induced by xylene.⑥Adopting spectrophotometric method,reviewing influence of amount of crude Iris tectorum and so on for permeabi lity of abdominal cavity capillary vessel of small mouse.Result:①LD₅₀ fiducial crude Iris tectorum is 90.01±13.71g/kg;equal rough do sage of rhizome of Iris tectorum per day is 1080 folds of clinic dosage of maximal tolerance dose.②crude Iris tectorum represents good sputum e liminating effect.The sputum eliminating effect of 18g/kg group is consi derably equal to that of ammonium chloride.Equal rough dosage of crude Iris tectorum 18g/kg,9g/kg,4.5g/kg group do not represent sputum eliminating effect(P＞0.05).③crude Iris tectorum and equal rough dosage of honey Iris tectorum 18g/kg,9g/kg,4.5g/kg group can reduces cough time of small mouse induced by ammonia and prolong cough delitescence obviously(P＜0.01).And cough time reduced by crude rhizome of Iris tectorum and equal rough dosage honey rhizome of Iris tectorum 18g/kg group is lower than same dosage of crude rhizome of Iris tectorum (P＜0.01).④crude Iris tectorum and equal rough dosage of honey Iris tectorum 18g/kg,9g/kg,4.5g/kg group can reduce ear tumefaction of small mouse obviously induced by xylene(P＜0.05).⑤crude Iris tectorum 18g/kg group and equal rough dosage of honey Iris tectorum 18g/kg,4.5g/kg group can reduce permeability of abdominal cavity capillary vessel of small mouse obviously(P＜0.01,P＜0.05).Conclusion:①crude Iris tectorum prepared with honey is decocted in water,which improves its safety.②crude Iris tectorum and stir-frying with honey have great codein effect.The equal rough dosage of rhizome of Iris tectorum is preferential to rough rhizome of Iris tectorum.③crude Iris tectorum has great sputum eliminating effect.The experiment shows that sputum eliminating effect of Iris tectorum stir-frying with honey is not obvious.④Iris tectorum rough product and stir-frying with honey have a certain anti-inflammation effect.
