Patchouli Essential Oil From Leaves Anti-inflammatory Immune Function And Mechanism Study

Purpose: The anti-inflammtory and immune action of essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb was studied and its mechanism of action is discussed preliminarily. The purpose is to provide a scientific basis for clinical application and further research.Material and method:1 To study the anti-inflammatory effect by ear swelling of mice caused by topical smearing of xylene,forced foot of rat by CAR and agar granulation tumor model of rat;2 To study the effect of essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb by carbon particle clearance test on mormal mice and immunosuppressive mice, macrophage englobement index of CRBC, phagocytosis the immunifaction by the producing of the amount of haemolysis plain antibody in the mice body and lymphocyte conversion ratio induced by adhesin.3 The model of paw edema induced by carrageenin was used to determine the effect of the essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb on the content of prostaglandin E₂(PGE₂) in the exudates and malondialdehyde (MDA) and NO in serum.4 To study the immunological regulation effects of essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb on mice. Serum pharmacology was used to study immunological regulation effects of different time and different dose drug-containing serum of essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb on periphery leukocytes, abdominal cavity macrophage and splenic lymphocytes.Results:1 Essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb of mid-dose(0. 4ml/kg) and high-dose(0.8ml/kg) could markedly inhibit dimethylbenzene-induced ear swelling in mice, mid-dose(0. 28ml/kg) and high-dose(0. 56ml/kg)significantly inhibit the swelling of foot paw induced by Carragenin and the granuloma induced by Agar in rats.2 The essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb of high-dose(0.8ml/kg) can increase the content of mice serum hemolytic, mid-dose(0.4ml/kg) and high-dose(0.8ml/kg) can enhance immunosuppressive and normal mice monocyte-macrophage phagocytosis , low-dose(0. 2ml/kg),mid-dose (0. 4ml/kg) and high-dose(0. 8ml/kg) can enhance mouse peritoneal macrophage phagocytosis of chicken red blood cell, high-dose(0.8ml/kg) can elevate the lymphocyte conversion ratio.3 The essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb of high-dose(0. 56ml/kg) could reduce the content of prostaglandin, NO and malonaldehyde.4 3. 0h, 4. 0h and 6. 0h drug-containing serum of 0.8ml/kg essential oil has obviously activation effects on periphery leukocytes;4.0h and 6.0h drug-containing serum has obviously activation effects on abdominal cavity macrophage. 3. 0h,4.0h and 6.0h drug-containing serum has obviously activation effects on splenic lymphocytes. Drug-containing serum of 1. 6ml/kg,1. 2ml/kg,0. 8ml/kg,0. 4ml/kg and 0. 2ml/kg essential oil have obviously activation effects on periphery leukocytes and abdominal cavity macrophage. Drug-containing serum of 1.2ml/kg and 0.8ml/kg have obviously activation effects on splenic lymphocytes. Essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb has immunological regulation effects on mice.Conclusion:1 Essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb has anti-inflammatory effects.2 The essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb can improve immune function activities.3 The anti-inflammatory mechanism of the essential oil in leaves of Cablin patchouli Herb action is related to reduce the content of prostaglandin, NO and malonaldehyde.4 The immunifaction mechanism of action is related to activate periphery leukocytes and abdominal cavity macrophage of mice and enhance cell multiplication of splenic lymphocytes.
