Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis (HSPN), is the renal damage caused by Henoch-Schonlein purpura . It usually happens in spring and autumn . Children are frequently encountered , while adults are by no means seen rare. Most doctors deem infection as the first inducing factor. The incidence rate of the renal damage ranges from 20 % to 100 % , and the domestic report is 33.4 %.HSPN may present different appearances clinically or on renal pathological changes according to the sensibiligen nature, difference of individual reactance, the organs involved by vasculitis as well as the different pathological changes. Disparity exist on therapeutic reaction and recovered condition among different pathological patients. According to different reaction in clinic and pathology, Professor Yuan classifies HSPN into three categories: slight, moderate and severe. As for different types, the curative emphasis varies from the adopted measure to the treatment period. Therapeutics on different types makes the efficacy more directive and effective. However, the normalization of the effective treatment on HSPN has not got any unification, which has been a serious problem for most nephric doctors.Based on the clinical manifestation of HSPN, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) classifies it as "myo-apostaxis" , "generate macula" , "ecchynosis" , "hematuria" , etc. The treatment abounds in the application on syndrome differntiation medication, solo medication and single-herb medication. Professor Yuan thinks the occurrence and prolongation of HSPN is related to the organism's hypersensitivity state, anaphylactogen's existence, infection of upper airway, amygdalitis, reoccurence of the cutaneous purpura. She classifies it into acute spasmodic period and chronic prolongation period. Here is the brief analysis on Professor Yuan's experience of HSPN with the combined treatment of TCM and western medicine.
