Objectives:To evaluate the benefits and harms Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) combing with west medicine in patients with nephritis of Henoch-schonlein Purpura nephritis (HSPN). Review systematically whether there are enough existing Evidences that TCM is effective and safe in the treatment of the patients with west medicine.Methods:We searched the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register(CCTR),MEDLINE, and Chinese VIP database (VIP),China National Knowledge infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biological Medicine database(CBM), Wan fang data.The Chinese journals related to TCM in the second half of 2009 searched by hand.Two authors independently assessed trial quality and extracted data from these Randomized Controlled Trails, then imported them into the Mete-analysis by Rev Man 4.2.Results:19 studies (1278patients) were identified. The results of Mete-analysis indicated:there are evidences to support that using TCM compare with west medicine is better than west medicine only on symptom physical sign and increasing the plasma levels of albumin and in decreasing 24-hour uproot protein and urine levels of red blood cell count and the plasma levels of total cholesterol and,recurrence rate,side effect. But the methodological quality is considered low in these sublevels of prevention.Conclusions:By the result of this study, Chinese medical herds combining with Prednisone and/or Immunosuppressant more effective than simplex west medicine.
