Republic Of China In The Western Debate Research

In the early twentieth century, a controversy took place between traditional Chinese medicine and Western modern medicine, and its background is complex and diverse. At the beginning, the western medicine only had a test, but it invaded medical territory gradually, which caused panic and reflection on the Chinese medicine profession. But then the Chinese medicine was flawed, and it gradually lost the only status for thousands of years, so it retreated into the edge of our medical treatment system. The long-standing dispute over Chinese and Western culture in modern China, played a such role in the controversy:On the one hand, the spread of Western culture promoted the development of natural science and the establishment of the scientific spirit, and it helped our country established a new cultural value system, which was different from our traditional philosophy and based on science, causing the Chinese traditional medicine questioned; On the other hand, the nationalism was developing and it prompted people to start competition in various areas with the West for living space, include in the field of medicine. After the four debates, our traditional medicine was so weak that it became the complementary and subsidiary of modern Western medicine.In this period, both sides of debates, in fact, arrived at the same end by different means. The focus was nationality, and they both aimed at national interests and at protect species of the people. However, their modes were different, some sought basis in tradition, and some search for new roads in new knowledge. Many of the issues exposed in the controversy were not as plain as shown, such as"Chinese scientific"was actually an excellent trap, which was the most quiet and effective means to perish the Chinese traditional medicine. Finally it became a "grotesque." Debates on retention or abolition of the traditional Chinese medicine theory was largely caused by two kinds of Chinese and Western medicine, because they can not accommodate different concepts, and therefore, if the two sides of the contradictory continue to debate, they were not wise. The two kinds of Chinese and Western medical system represented two entirely different cultures, so the essence of the debate is conflict and integration of different cultures.The controversy triggered reflection on the Chinese medicine profession, and promoted the development of Chinese medicine in the training of personnel, the building of hospitals, and theoretical innovation, we have some results. But we can not ignore the negative impact of the controversy. In the time of cultural globalization, through the relationship between Chinese and Western medicine, we can get some inspiration and experience for how to treat domestic and foreign cultural issues.
