Objects:This article summarize the literature about the research of the clinical advantage of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the clinical application of treating different diseases with the same method, and the clinical research of Traditional Chinese Medicine about the suffocating of lung disease (small airway dysfunction). Based upon this summarization, we explored the effect of the treatment of management of treating different diseases with the same method for the suffocating of lung disease (small airway dysfunction) using antitheses and prospective study. Methods:One hundred and twenty COPD at stable phase and asthma at chronic duration patients (deficiency of Qi, phlegm and stasis blood obstructing the lung in TCM) were divided into two groups randomly (the trial group and the control group). Patients in trial group were treated with Chinese traditional medicine and Western medicine, and the patients of the control group were treated only by Western medicine. The aim of this study was to compare the result of two groups by analyzing clinical symptom and sign, and lung function, and the St George's Respiratory Questionnaire before and after treatment.Results:(1)Clinical symptom and sign:Clinical symptoms had been improved significantly in both the trial group and the control group, however, mere were significant differences in the trial group in improving clinical symptoms compared with the control group (P<0.05); (2) Lung function:After the treatment, FEV1 and FEV1% of all patients were not improved (P>0.05). Compared with the control group, melioration of FEV1 and FEV1/FVC in the trial group were as same as control group (P>0.05); (3) the St·George's Respiratory Questionnaire:After the treatment, there were significant differences in the trial group in improving total score, the respiratory symptoms section score and the activity section score and the impacts section score (P<0.05);After treatment, there was only significant difference in the control group in improving the respiratory symptoms section score(P<0.05);After treatment, there were significant differences in the trial group in improving total score and the activity section score and the impacts section score compared with the control group (P<0.05),not different in the respiratory symptoms section score (P>0.05).Conclusions:The management of treating different diseases with the same method with routine western medicine can effectively improve clinical outcome, such as improving symptoms, improving quality of life, except strengthening lung function.
