Infantile diarrhea is a group of diseases caused by a variety of pathogens and factors,with the characteristic of increasing in stool frequency and changing in stool traits, which is the main reason for morbid dity and mortality, as well as an important factor leading to malnutrition in children. Modern medicine there is no specific treatment for infantile diarrhea currently. Chinese Medicine treatment of this disease has a long history, which is significantly effective.This clinical study was trying to observe the treatment efficacy of children with damp-heat diarrhea, treated by massage therapy and umbilical sticking with Mompounded Traditional Chinese Medicine Granule.This paper consists of two parts, which are two literature reviews and a clinical research.The first literature review introduced modern medical research advance of infantile diarrhea in recent years, including the latest standards for the diagnosis and treatment, nutritional therapy and immunotherapy, as well as rectum medication and Modern Chinese Medicine Preparations. The second literature review discussed the Chinese Medicine research advance of infantile diarrhea in recent years, which included the understanding of cause and pathogens of this disease, internal and external treatment method of Chinese Medicine.The clinical research part studied 62 cases of infantile diarrhea, which met the inclusion criteria.Objective:To observe the treatment efficacy of children with damp-heat diarrhea, treated by massage therapy and umbilical sticking with Compounded Traditional Chinese Medicine Granule.Methods:The 62cases of children with damp-heat diarrhea, which met the inclusion criteria, were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. The 30 patients of treatment group were treated by massage therapy firstly, which included reinforcing spleen meridian acupoint, reinforcing and reducing large intestinal meridian acupoint, massaging the internal eight diagrams and kneading abdomen. We pasted navels of the the 30 cases with Mompounded Traditional Chinese Medicine Granule after the application of massage, which consisted of pueraria, scutellaria, coptis, banksian rose, poria exodermis and plantain.The 32 cases of control group were treated by CanglingZhixie oral liquid mainly, with adjuvant therapy of Montmorillonite powder and Bifico. We treated both group for 3 days, and then observed the situation of frequency and characters of stool and other symptoms and signs.The treatment results were analyzed after 3 days by SAS-V8 statistical software.Results:1. The total clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared. In 30 cases of treatment group, 21 cases cured,7 cases improved,2 cases ineffective, the total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%.In 32 cases of control group,15 cases cured,9 cases improved,8 cases ineffective, the total effective rate of control group was 75.00%. Treatment group was better than control group(P<0.05).2. To reduce the frequency of stool, the total effective rate of treatment group was 96.67%, which was better than the control group 78.13%(P<0.05). To improve the stool character, the total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%, which was better than the control group 75.00%(P<0.05). The treatment group was better than the control group in improving symptoms and signs of abdominal pain, bloating and anal redness (P<0.05).3. Both groups were significantly effective in improving symptoms and signs of vomiting, anorexia, fever,dehydration and dark urine (P>0.05).Both groups were significantly effective in improve the peripheral blood and stool test results.Conclusion:The treatment efficacy of massage and umbilical sticking with Compounded Traditional Chinese Medicine Granule was better than using CanglingZhixie oral fluid mainly in treating children with damp-heat diarrhea. It was better in improving frequency and character of stool, as well as main symptoms and signs.
