Angina pectoris is a common cardiovascular disease, as the population ages,it has become one of the severe diseases which can endanger human physical and mental health badly. For thousands of years, the TCM physicians in China has accumulated rich experience in the treatment of coronary heart disease with Chinese medicine. More over, a large number of experimental and clinical studies have confirmed that Chinese medicine has advantages in the prevention and treatment of the disease, so the study of chinese medicine and Integration of traditional and western medicine treatment have been paid more and more attention. However, when it comes to the age of evidence based medicine, there is not enough credible research evidence of curative effect of integration of traditional and western medicine. The lack of evidence based medical guidance is one of the important factors which influence the level of evidence. Therefore, under the guidance of evidence based medicine, to make a research of chronic angina pectoris helps improve the level of treatment of Angina pectoris and provide reliable evidence for the study of the treatment of integration of traditional and western medicine. Many clinical studies have shown that the most common Angina pectoris syndromes in Chinese medicine is the Deficiency of Qi and stagnation of blood. Objective:This study is to observe the effect on patient admission rate, acute heart accident incidence rate, mortality rate and clinical effectiveness on curing coronary angina pectoris by integration of traditional and western medicine therapy based on evidence-based medicine.Under the help of evidence based medicine, doctors study the influence of the method of replenishing qi and activating blood circulation in the acute cardiac accident rate(including acute myocardial infarction, hospitalization for unstable angina pectoris, etc.) and mortality of angina pectoris (Qi deficiency and blood stasis) and clinical observation.Method:The objects of research are 42 patients who have been diagnosed as stable angina and Qi deficiency and blood stasis by the Dongzhimen Hospital. 17 people are in the western medical therapy group (control group), and the rest of them are in the method of replenishing qi and activating blood circulation group (treatment group). The western medical therapy group use the 2002 ACC/AHA updated "Guidelines for diagnosis of chronic stable angina pectoris" (see it at appendix) as a clinical guide for medical therapy; the replenishing qi and activating blood circulation group also use medical therapy as the first group, but plus some Chinese patent medicine which can replenish qi and activate blood circulation:Composite Danshen tablet and shenshao Pian. The courses of treatment which lasted for 3 month were Observed. To observe the incidence of acute cardiac events and mortality and to compare clinical symptoms of angina, nitroglycerine stopped or decreased percentage, ECG reading and Chinese medical symptoms of the two groups. Results:Acute heart accident incidence rate, mortality rate:The acute heart accident incidence rate of Matched group shown 5.9%, the acute heart accident incidence rate of treatment group shown 4.0%, their differences had no statistical significance. Neither of the groups has acute myocardial infarction or death.Clinical symptoms of angina curative effect:Treatment group shown 96.67%, Matched group shown 73.05%, and Treatment group was better than Matched group, their differences had statistical significance.Nitroglycerine stopper or decreased percentage curative effect:Treatment group shown 68.00%, Control group shown 52.94%, their differences had no statistical significance.ECG curative effect:The ECG curative effect of the two groups separately shown 86.47% and 76.08%, their differences had no statistical significance.Echocardiogram effect:both the treatment group and the matched group have no effect on echocardiogram.Chincese medical symptoms curative effect:Treatment group shown96.67, Control group shown 60%, and Treatment group was better than Control group, their differences had statistical significance.Conclusions:1. Because of the lack of time, the differences of the morbility and mortality of acute heart accident had no statistical significance between treatment group and Control group.2. The treatment group is better than the matched group on the symptoms of angina pectoris.3. The use of Composite Danshen tablets and Shenshao Pian can control angina, reduce nitroglycerine usage, improve Chinese medical symptoms. These Chinese patent medicines are effective and safe in the treatment of stable angina pectoris(Qi deficiency and blood stasis).4. The treatment group is superior to the matched group on the traditional Chinese medicine symptoms of angina pectoris. So we can draw a conclusion that replenishing qi and activating blood circulation therapy could be better than western medicine therapy.
