Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in treating ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients compared with the patients those who treated with SASP by using the ASAS20, BASDAI50 standard and the curative effect standard of Chinese Medicine Syndrome. To provide some data for constituting the criterion of Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment in AS.Methods:It's a Randomized controlled prospective clinical trial.Using the SPSS 17.0 software to statistical analyse the data. All statistical test uses the two-sided test, showing significant difference on statistics with a=0.05 (two-sided), p<0.05.Content:To design the Case Report Form(CRF), bring AS patients into the study by diagnostic standards of Chinese medicine and Western medicine, stochastic grouping the patients into the TCM group and the SASP group. According to syndrome differentiation, divides the patients in TCM group into two syndromes, the syndrome of stagnant dampness-heat group & the syndrome of stagnant Kidney-deficiency group, the period of treatment is 12 weeks. Before and after the treatment, observes and records the changes in Chinese Medicine Syndrome, Bath AS disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath AS function index (BASFI), PGA, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP) and so on.At the same time, monitors the security targets like blood routine test, urine routine test, ALT, Cr, BUN and electrocardiogram. Using the ASAS20, BASDAI50 standard and the curative effect standard of Chinese medicine syndrome tips to evaluate the efficacy of TCM.Results:According to the research, the sex ratio of the AS patients is 3:1 for men and women. The youngest is 18 years old, the oldest is 55 years old.The average age of the patients is 34.21±10.70 years old. The average age of the male patients is 32.06±10.72 years old.The average age of the female patients is 40.67±7.83 years old.The total effective rate was 81.48% in the syndrome of stagnant dampness-heat group,88.00% in the syndrome of stagnant Kidney-deficiency group, and 76.92% in SASP group after 12 weeks of treatment, showing no significant difference among the three groups(P>0.05). Chinese Medicine Syndrome,VAS,BASDAI,BASFI,PGA and EI in all three groups were improved remarkably (P<0.05), but among them, only the changes in VAS and Chinese Medicine Syndrome showing significant difference(P<0.05).ESR in the two TCM groups were improved(P<0.01), and it shows significant difference compared with the SASP group. At the same time, CRP in the syndrome of stagnant dampness-heat group were improved, and it shows significant difference (P<0.05).During the period of treatment, the security targets of all three groups have been not abnormal. Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of TCM is satisfactory, especially in improving Chinese Medicine Syndrome tips and decreasing the level of ESR and CRP.TCM has good safety and compliance, it has broad applying prospect with high exploiting value.
