Pulmonary infection is a common infection in the elderly with the incidence and mortality much higher than those of young people. Aging of the whole population, application of hormone and immunodepressant, and occurrence of drug-resistance bacteria give rise to the high incidence and mortality. Pulmonary infection in the elderly remains one of the toughest problems for doctors throughout the world. The objective of the study is to investigate the syndrome features and main points of syndrome differentiation of pulmonary infection in the elderly with syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung or syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung, assist the classification of disease type and differentiation. Tetrospective study is performed to investigate the syndrome feature of Chinese Medicine and clinical study of modern medicine. Based on the previous clinical experience and records, diagnostic criteria of the syndromes have been determined. This issue in accordance with the relevant standards, developed a clinical observation table. A total of 60 cases of pulmonary infection in the elderly with syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung and 60 patients with syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung meeting the diagnostic criteria were enrolled. Epidemiological data, clinical features, tongue condition and pulse of pulmonary infection in the elderly are recorded in our study. Through the contrast, statistics and analysis, the syndrome features, cause of disease and main points of syndrome differentiation of the syndrome of phlegm-heat and dampness-heat blocking in lung in old patients with pulmonary infection was discussed. Further, the difference of main points of syndrome and physics and chemistry index was discussed.Chinese medicine symptoms Syndrome observation results show that:in the group of patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung, occurrence rate of symptoms of serious cough, coughing in accumulating the lung group urges sputum fever roughly, dysphoria, consciousness obstacle, constipation overtop the patients with syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung. In the group of patients with syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung, occurrence rate of symptoms of slight cough, sound weight is confused, thirst without desire to drink, bitter taste in mouth, the abdominal fullness and distention, heavy body, languorous lack in strength bitterly, anorexia, loose stool, non-smooth diarrhea, plump tongue, teeth-printed tongue overtop the patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung. The patients with syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung have a great quantity of phlegm. The patients with syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung have thin phlegm. It is important to differentiate the syndrome of phlegm-heat blocking in lung and syndrome of dampness-heat blocking in lung.
