Propolis is dry secretions from the bee Apis mellifera L.of Italian insects.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that propolis has anti-bacterial anti-inflammatory, regulating immunity, anti-oxidation, accelerate tissue healing and so on. Propolis is used adjuvant therapy for hyperlipidemia and diabetes in the clinic. The present propolis has been widely used in medicine, health products, cosmetics and other fields.In this paper, I have conducted the preliminary evaluation based on the quality of different sources of propolis. According to the 2005 edition of China pharmacopoeia under the provisions of propolis against 13 different origin of propolis were carried out by TLC, as well as loss on drying, total ash, acid insoluble ash, oxidation time, alcohol extract inspection. It were determined using HPLC method in 13 propolis origin chrysin and galangin content, At the same time were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry of flavonoids in propolis. The results show that, the propolis in Jilin Province Jiaohe and Henan Province Changge areas are superior to others areas.In this paper, using HPLC-DAD method on fingerprint of propolis research, using Agilent Zorbax SB-C18 (250mm×4.6mm, 5μm) column with methanol -0.1% formic acid as mobile phase gradient elution; detection wavelength 290nm; velocity To 0.8ml/min,we obtain a better separation of propolis fingerprints with a view to provide reference for total quality control of propolis.Using LC-MS techniques for propolis fingerprints to qualitativly analyze, speculating the possible structure of 18 peaks, of which 9 flavonoid compounds (2 for the flavonoids and 7 for the dihydro-flavonoids), 9 aromatic acid and aromatic acid esters (3 for the aromatic acids and 6 for the aromatic acid esters), providing more chemical information for the efficacy material composition of propolis, with a view to the future will be more comprehensive and rational evaluation of the quality of propolis to provide more scientific basis.
