Chuxiong Yi Headdress Art Research

In this thesis, the head ornaments art of Yi national minority in Chuxiong was studied. Dress designing study and ethnology discipline theories was the main research foundation of this thesis.In addition, esthetics principle was also used for reference. The first hand information of this thesis was obtained by field investigation on the minority autonomy areas of Yi nation in Chuxiong and data acquisition about historical data and the material object of the Yi national minority clothing and the head ornaments art. The head ornaments art of the Yi minority autonomy areas in Chuxiong was expounded and studied by system analysis and induction research methods.Firstly, this thesis defined head ornaments concepts. On the basis of various theories of head ornaments origin, the practical function is better than aesthetic function. Through concluding the historical data about the Yi national minority head ornaments records, the Yi national minority head ornaments formation in the history process of evolution was expounded and studied that history source. Secondly, on the basis of field investigation and information acquisition researched the artistic characteristics of Yi national minority head ornaments and divided the head ornaments into three parts:the hair style, head clothes and the widget. Due to modelling diversity of head clothes in the Yi national minority of Chuxiong, the head clothes was divided into the crown hat type and the turban handkerchief type in this thesis. From decoration technique and color characteristics, the different collateral series of the different modelling characteristics head clothes was studied. Thirdly, the Yi national minority head ornaments contained profound and the rich cultural connotation. In the thesis, according to analysis of the cultural connotation and function of Yi national minority head ornaments think that people's religious beliefs, primitive worship, aesthetic psychology of Yi national minority manifest on the head ornaments. It also was the indispensable ornaments for Yi nation minority people. Finally, a unified coordination was found between Yi headdress art and clothing by considering the relation of the essential factors of modelling, material quality of Yi national minority head ornaments and its clothing art. It has a unified beauty and harmonious beauty. Its diverse modeling and practical function was the source of inspiration for modern fashionable head ornaments design. If modern popular head ornaments design can absorb and merge together essential factors of the Yi national minority head ornaments of modeling,color, pattern and so on, it will provide enormous and rich creation space for the modern head ornaments design.
