This paper mainly discusses the meaning of alchemical image in the works of Leonora Carrington. Her art is known to mystic, spreading fabulous light which mix alchemy, Celtic Mythology and Latin American culture. Her works convey her special female consciousness. By analyzing these images in her works, I try to reveal their meaning and background, thus to make a relation of alchemy, surrealism and magic realism.There are three chapters in this paper. Chapter one offers the background and theory. This paper is based on the theory of alchemy, so it's necessary to make clear the evolution and revival of alchemy at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Chapter two selected three kinds of images such as Philosopher's stone, holy rite and figure hybrid, to learn the significance of reconstruct the alchemical scene by Leonora Carrington. Chapter three is the extensive thinking of images, explores the thought behind them, and put Leonora Carrington in the background of Latin American culture and woman's liberations.
