With the constant booming of China's economy, China has become more and more important in the world stage. In the world around, more and more people want to learn the Chinese, and the number of foreign students who come to China increases with the year. At the same time, with the rapid development of shanghai, more and more foreign experts come to Shanghai , and their children need to go to Secondary schools here for study, this is a great opportunity and challenge for our international department. Meanwhile, we haven't much experience in teaching the foreign middle school students, especially the students from the European countries and America, Chinese. Thus, we want to learn from the experience of modern foreign language teaching and learning to enhance our Chinese teaching as a foreign language.On the bases of the former theories and thoughts, especially the researches and practices of teaching French as a modern foreign language in the secondary schools, this thesis compares the teachers, the teaching materials and the teaching methods used in both French language teaching to local students and Chinese language teaching to international students in our school. We insist that we should follow the linguistic approach to study the TCFL, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and suggest that the aims of teaching Chinese to non-speaker beginners should be enable students to understand and use the language they have studied in a range of contexts and for a variety of purpose.
