Compared with previous studies on Ancient Chinese Literature, the researches in the 20th century have much closer links to university education, when most of the scholars are no longer do researches in their studies alone, but walk into some well-known universities and get the academic research combined with teaching practice. As a result, a number of universities have become the academic research centers. Since studies on Ancient Chinese literature in the 20th century have got such far-reaching achievements, it is necessary to review and comb the history of academic research in this period; but in the process of review and study we should also consider the university education at that time, so as to understand the full context of the development of academic research.This thesis chose professor Fu Gengsheng and his study on Tang poems as the object, which is exactly related to university education and development of research on Tang poems in the 20th century. Fu Gengsheng, the famous expert on Tang poems, has made remarkable contributions to the ancient literature of the 20th century. His literary study in different periods not only demonstrated his academic personality and pursuit, but also reflects the characteristics of the time and trend. Meanwhile, his own life experience and academic research have showed the style of an outstanding scholar at that time.This paper mainly selects Prof. Fu Gengsheng and his related research as the starting point, and then sums up his academic ideas and methods. The paper focuses on making an objective evaluation and a specific analysis about the study range of Fu, his achievements and the academic influence. It also reviews the history of the academic research on Tang poems while combing and studying; at the same time, it gives a rather comprehensive analysis of each specific problem.
