Inspiration is a common psychological phenomenon in scientific discovery, literature and art creation, as well as in design creation. It is a very important thinking method in the process of design creation. It is not mysterious, but objectively exists, and often plays an important role in raising the design work into a higher level. After the ancient Greek philosopher, Democritus raised it as a concept, many scholars, ancient and modern, foreign and domestic, all made great effort to explore and research on inspiration thinking. However, the research on inspiration thinking especially in design creation is still not systematic. Design is a work that needs creativity, while inspiration is just the creative power in design process. Therefore the research on inspiration thinking in design creation is very important. This article mainly uses the research method of comprehensive analysis, and takes case study as a supplementary, in order to summarize the basic theory and research history of inspiration thinking, and discuss about the conditions, sources and training of design inspiration.
