The Inspiration To Modern Jewelry Design By The Word-formation Thinking Of "The Six Categories Of Chinese Characters"

Modern jewelry design is facing fierce competition in the globalization of today, and many designers are trying to find a breakthrough from the traditional culture in this field. The Chinese character as a symbol of recording and transmitting of information, is a carrier of chinese national culture. Simultaneously, this symbol display thinking in the creation process, named the word-formation thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters", is the source of chinese traditional culture. In this paper, through generalizing and summarizing the word-formation thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters", trying to get some inspiration for the nationalization of modern jewelry design to open up new paths.The paper contains five parts, the first part, introducing the basic content of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters".The second part, analyzing the features of the word-formation Thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters", including the respective characteristics of specific performance contained in Pictographic Thinking, Associative compounds Thinking and Phonogram Thinking. The third part, defining the links between the word-formation Thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters "and modern jewelry design, combined with the specific practice of the more successful jewelry design, and then analyzing the word-formation Thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters "in the performance of modern jewelry design. The fourth part, from the three aspects form of Pictographic Thinking, Associative compounds Thinking and Phonogram Thinking, describing the inspiration to modern jewelry design by the Word-formation Thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters". The fifth part, combined with my design works, discussing the application methods of the word-formation thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters" in modern jewelry design, and then proposing several problems should be paid attention to in the application process. Finally, a summary of the topic, and put forward ideas for the further research.Through systematic analysis and study of the word-formation thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters", combined with the status of modern jewelry design, we can conclude that it still has practical significance that the word-formation thinking of "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters", which is used in modern jewelry design, first of all, for the promotion of Chinese culture about outstanding character, it has important theoretical and practical significance undoubtedly. More importantly, modern jewelry full of "Chinese taste "can be highlighted the aesthetic personality in the global cultural scene of jewelry design, thereby sparkles.
